So the directions says to start out with 1 tablespoon per 4 gallons. With a total of 80 gallons in my system, I will be using 20 tablespoons!?! I should double it after a month or two which means I will be using 40 tablespoons.

This is a lot compared to the other gfo I have used in the past where I would only use 4 tablespoons total. Is it because BRS GFO its less concentrated than other companies?

No, their GFO should be the exact same. I would go slower when adding more GFO--rip too much phosphate too fast and you'll have big problems quickly. I thought the directions were for 1 TBS for every 10g. I'd start somewhere around there and work up if you still have algae issues.

No, he is correct the BRS GFO says 1-tbsp for every 4-gallons. The GAC says 1-tbsp for every 10-gallons. The BRS GFO is the only brand I have ever used, I didn't know that other brands recommend much less. This makes me wonder if I should cut back my GFO. I do have a couple corals that I would like to darken up just a little bit. Using less GFO may do the trick. Anybody else have more info on this???
