Hi all,

Just got my new lid for my 83gal upgrade. Naturally, I made a design mistake. The cutout for my Avast plank was supposed to be 3.5" from the inside edge of the glass, and I put it 3.5" from the outside edge of the glass. I need to cut out an additional 0.5". I don't want to ruin my new beautiful lid, and obviously not requesting a fix from the vendor who did it perfectly to my specifications. Anyone nearby able to do nice cuts on polycarbonate as a free favor or not too expensive job?

NOTE: sticky cling film still on the underside of the polycarb. Thanks!

So a router is what I need!? I'd still botch it up, I'm sure. Really kicking myself about messing up on the lid design--these things ain't cheap!

Any carpenter can use a router and make that cut easy. They will build the template out of wood first, and then just use that as a guide for the router.

It is actually way easier than that if you have a router table. You just set the fence to a .5" and run the lid down it.

When I got my lid from the vendor I had to shave .125 off 6 of the pieces so it would fit. Took me about 3 minutes to do.

Yeah, you are right with the table router. I thought he maybe wanted a curve or custom cutout.
