Okay so im not very good at explaining stuff but basically heres what i have going on. I setup my ato freshwater holder on the top of my tank. When my jbj auto top off activates the toms aqualifter pump everything works fine but then the water still trickles through the pump because of gravity im assuming. At first i had the ato mount at the level of the sump and i figured that if i moved the ato higher then the container that is holding the water it wouldnt syphon out the water anymore since the pump is higher then the water itself. But it still does. Sorry for typing in caps and hopefully this makes sense. Heres some pics. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to have your ATO lower than the output on the hose. Just move the hose output coming out from your TOMS up higher, passed the full water level on your resivoir.

Where is the very end of the output hose? The part where the water comes out of the hose?

Here is mine, in the first pic u can see the line zip tied to my drain into the sock. In the second pic u can see the reservoir to the right. U see how the hose is a little higher than my reservoir.

i cant quite figure out the second pic. is all of this getting screwed up because my reservoir is higher than the sump? what should i do mount the aqualifter higher or lower? or should i runs the output hose up higher? im just confused because i know its being gravity fed but i dont know how to stop it. it will empty out my reservoir the way its being gravity fed right now

Your output hose had to be higher than your reservoir so that when your pump stops it won't be able to continue

It doesnt really matter where you put the lifter, just move up the output hose to a point higher than your reservoir.

Is that suction cup higher or lower than your reservoir?

gotcha....thanks guys i figured it out. because of how high my ato reservoir is it makes it really hard to place the output without it leaking. im going to have to rig up some type of tube to make it not splash since the output has to be so high because of where i put my water reservoir. thank you guys for your help. it should be common sense but it had me confused for a bit.

You could zip tie an acrylic rod to the output hose that way the top off runs down the rod into your sump rather than dripping. That should cut down on the splash by giving the water something to run down directly into the sump but not continue the siphon of top off.

Thanks guys i got it figured out. I ended up mounting a half inch pvc pipe in the far left corner of my ato so that i can mount the output house up high and it just drips down the tube into my sump. Thanks again.
