Hi, I just got a tube anemone a couple weeks ago. Since my 50g cube is still bare-bottom, I put the tube anemone in a open-top jar with about 1.5" deep of sand.

This guy keeps floating out of the sand and of course got sucked into the MP-10 a couple of times. Luckily I have form screen on the power head and caught it early.

Why does it keep popping out of the sand? How do I keep it happy and stay put?

Thanks,

you need a lot of sand... the foot extends really far.. also I have one and It will stay put when full. when hungry, like after 2 weeks, it will move all around the tank, still in the sand but moving it's foot. It's it can't "stretch" out, then it can't get comfortable so it moves... your case being the jar...

Thanks. I guess I can get a bigger container with deeper sand to see what happens. What do you feed your tube anemone?

silver sides.. it collects the mysis shrimp that float by when I go my big tank fed, but that isn't enough.. just a snack... When I had my eel he would eat the good fish before the eel could get to it and they would fight lol eel would get stung, run away, come back, get stung, etc. etc. til anemone finally let go , tired of getting bugged...
