...if a lfs can think that way ( that had no interest and didn't make a dime on the sale) shouldn't a large company like Danner Or MD do the same especially for a 100 pump...
Not when you're out for money. And honestly I'm not necessarily blaming them, but the answer to "why" is that their motivation isn't the same.

I'm confused tho I don't think any retailer would return something before they had the defective one in hand. Am I off base here?
well im not sure maybe Cody , but for a large online retailer that makes Millions a yr to not just exchange it out and deal with danner so that their customer is happy and has a working pump (that is used for life support)I find it insane, I mean shoot kyle offering to give them a deposit should speak for itself . for example I had a outstanding experience with Eshopps!!! I was working @ Age I had two customers that purchased hob skimmers and both had problems with the pump they came back into the shop the next day after purchase. I called eshopps , they mailed out two new impellors I received a day later called customer they came in and picked up the replacement part one of the customers called me back and said pump still not working I said ok called Eshopps back that same day they drove out a pump to me . Brand new no questions ask didn't need to see the pump first or inspect it called customer had him bring in the unit I replaced and made sure it was working before he left the shop. done happy customer with a product that works its not that difficult or I don't think asking to much and cody just because no one does this is no excuse why you shouldnt

I forwarded over the emails between myself and danner to marine depot, only to receive this response.

Thank you for contacting Marine Depot.* I’m sorry to hear about your troubles.* Unfortunately, warranty from manufacturers require you to ship the item back for support.* They do not front the replacement to you.* It’s just as if your car broke down that is still covered under warranty.* Dealerships would require you to tow your vehicle to them and be out of a car until it is repaired.* They don’t just let you drive off with a new car.

*

All warranty support would have to be handled directly through Danner.* We would be more than happy to discount a Danner replacement pump by 10% and waive the shipping charge to help you out.* After you send and receive the repaired pump back, you can just save it as a spare backup.* If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please give me a call at1-800-566-3474. *We apologize for the inconvenience.

Wth... really marine depot

Such high standards Kyle I don't think MD is wrong on this one and they offered a discount so they seem to be trying to help the situation but that's also how I look at it. But I'm not always right just like a good debate. :)

The issue has been resolved and marine depot will be dealing directly with danner... big thanks to COC with robert and chance for helping fix a problem that wasn't yours to begin with.

Sucks i had to call a manager at md to resolve it

Im not saying they were wrong... but to compare a pump to a car... unacceptable....

Also a dealership would cover the cost of the tow and also a rental car while my car was in for repairs...essentially a terrible comparison... also to not take the side of your customers and back the vendor doesn't show me why I should be loyal to said retailer.

Not necessarily but like I said earlier, reeflo sent me out a new pump before I sent the old one back. The understand the situation we deal with in the hobby and we can't just stop our tanks from running to replace a pump that's under warranty. I understand danners position on this but I do feel MD should have done more on this one.

Aquatic life customer service is out standing and a great example of what a large Manufacture should live up to , I know I learned from them

Danner is still responding:
We honor the warranty and we handle customer service accordingly.* Just because you didn’t get your way doesn’t mean we don’t do our jobs.* The mere fact you were willing to “allow voltage” into your tank is horrible.* Good luck finding what you want.

My answer:
Dont worry, I did. I will no longer be utilizing your pumps. It was in very poor taste that you continued to pursue this conversation as far as you have. *You have made your company look terrible and their is no way to rectify and or justify it to any customer. Remember, *a customer is 10 times more likely to talk about a bad experience then a good one. Also, what customer service do you speak of?*

Actually, dont answer that, nothing will come of it.*

"Allowed voltage?" The cause of which is your faulty pump... I dont see how your pump failing is my fault...

In anycase, Thank you and have a wonderful day,

Kyle
