Was moving some things around and noticed this (sponge?) thing hanging off one of my hammers.

It's purple with bright orange specs. Hollow...kind if like a bubble. No clue what it is, but it's pretty dang cool. Soft tissue. Ideas?

Hi I have these show up on my rock occasionally... I fear they are some kind of red bubble algae so I "try" to remove from my tank without bursting the bubble.
I am no expert so I will follow on this thread and maybe learn something....

Thanks for the heads up. Once I read your response I looked it up to confirm. I'll remove it in the morning. What a shame...it's kind of cool looking.

I have the same thing in my tank...and have always wondered what it was, now I know..Thanks...so goin to remove it in the morning to... :)

Yup those are definitely red bubble algae. They grow like crazy over my tunzes and are really slimy when popped.
