1. My JBJ chiller turn on all the time but not colling down the tank. Is the refregerant out? Where can I service this chiller?

2. What is your layout if you have chiller? Mine is Sump> Main pump > DT. Any other layout you might suggest coz im replacing my return pump with 1inch output and dont want to restrect the flow to DT. I only have one return pipe to DT.

Thank you

Refrigerant doesn't run out unless there is a leak. It's basically a gas that keep recirculating in a closed loop. You could have it checked at any place that fix ac/refrigerator

What is the actual flow rate of water coming out of the chiller? JBJ chillers (and most others I assume) have a flow minimum and maximum they need to be effective. Too much water flow or not enough will greatly reduce the effectiveness of the chiller. Check the manufacturer's web site or marine depot.com for the rates and make sure yours is there. I might suggest running a separate pump for your chiller and match the pump's GPH to what the chiller needs.
You can also give JBJ a call and give them the info on the chiller and ask for tech help. I've had good luck with getting tech help from them in the past.

Waveline DC pump dialed down to match the GPH of chiller. At this time it is run from dc pump to the DT.No T but planning to add which reflect to question #2 on 1st post.

Just curious, why is your chiller even coming on? At this time of the year, chiller shouldn't be coming on but instead your heater should be working hard. I'm just curious, that's all. :)

This is a local forum right? Most of so cal has not seen winter weather. My room got up to 78 degrees last night. I'm guessing I shouldn't be the only one since we're all living in the same relative area.

Yes, I'm in Socal too. Unless you're trying to lower your temp to around the low 70's, there should be no reason your chiller should be on. Majority of people keep their reef tank around 78C. If you're chiller is coming on around this time of the year, man good luck in the summer then.

I do multiple pre test before summer for fail safe like this so that I wouldn't cry if all of my hard go to trash. See if this is summer I'll end up buying new chiller while this is in service.

Is there hot air still coming from the back side? And if its a old unit the Freon might need replacing. JBJ has a local warehouse but i don't think they do repairs.
