Hi everyone. I need some advice on my chiller. I was about to head to bed and noticed my digital thermometer read 85.5. I checked my chiller temp and read 78. Im assuming my chiller stopped working. Im going to drop some ice pack to lower the temp temporary. Should I just replace it or get it repaired. No warranty since I got it used. Chiller is an aquaeuro.

does the chiller compressor kicks in when you lower the setting temp to 70 or so? If just the temp sensor is not working correctly, you can "calibrate" for a few more days

I tried lowering the temp setting on the chiller and it will run but the temp is not getting any lower. Only the temp on the chiller goes lower and not the actual water temperature. Not sure what the problem is on the chiller.

It does take a while for a 1/10 chiller to cool an 85 degree tank to 78. The chiller was working OK for a while and now stops right? Also when the compressor kicks in, you will hear a louder noise from the chiller......The water feels very different between 78 and 85.....

Yes the chiller was working and it just stopped all of a sudden. My chiller is always connected and my temp was always around 78 or so. I felt the water and my digital thermometer seems correct. The water is warm. The chiller and digital thermometer was always only 1 degree off. I already tried to lower the temp on the chiller and the water temp will not go lower.

I just remembered our electricity went out yesterday night for a short time. Not sure if this was the cause for the chiller to stop working?

Try unplugging the chiller and plugging it back in. Hopefully the power outage had something to do with a re set or something.

Yes it sounds like the water is just sitting in the chiller. Your getting water flowing through it right.

I agree with emac that the feed pump is probably not pumping. Your chiller appears to be working, just not circulating water.

Both of you are correct. I took out the pump and its barely pumping water. I tried to fix it this morning but already late for work. I will just have to go pickup a new pump later today. Thanks for all the help.

Check both the feed pump but also check the chiller return. Sometimes inside the chiller will collect stuff like small snails that make it past any guards and slowly obstruct the internal of the chiller itself. In that case, your chiller will need a vinegar bath to clear it out.

Sounds like you got this handled, but.... As a word of caution, my power has gone down a time or two, and when it did, the chiller reset itself LOWER... Like 73... Woke up to shivering fish. I also noticed that I needed to recalibrate each time the power went off too. Just something to think about when you get the new pump..

Thanks for the info. I will be sure to check everything once I get the new pump cooked up. Hope everything is alive by the time I get home tonight.

Ran into another issue. Can anyone let me know what 1/2 tubing is safe to use I can buy at home depot?
