clam and pistol shrimp?????

Hi so I've been trying to get my clam to attach to a rock towards the upper third of my tank. That's where the old one was and it seems to have good lighting and good flow there. This new one keeps jumping off and landing in the sand. I have no problem keeping it in the sand.... the teal color that I mentioned before actually comes out a little more when it's further away from the light.... the question is whether my pistol shrimp will decide to eat it. The pistol is definitely the serial murderer of my cleaning crew....

Let's not jump the GUN here...lol...are you sure the pistol took out your cuc? Have had many pistol shrimps and never saw one that attacked cuc and definitely not clams. Of course theres always a first but I would venture to say your clam is perfectly safe on the sand with the shrimp around.

Not if it decides to cover it with sand like when you go to the beach and try to burry your friends lol

Mine is a murderer too I can't keep snails or crabs in my nano... collects the shells at his entrance that bastad!

In that case, I think I may have a solution to your problem op...I dont know who else sells them but robert at COC sells clam stands. Like an oval shaped hollow stand for clams to attach and once it does, you can place the clam with base stand anywhere you want.

Your clam should be fine in the sand. I've only ever kept mine on the sand bed.

If I remember right, Croceas and Maximas are found naturally on rock or rubble areas and require more light, Deresas and Squamosas on the sand. Not to say they won't live on either.

My pistol never kills any of my CUC. He pulls my snails into his cave and throws them right back out once he realizes it's alive!!! lol.

LOL.... my pistol and goby live under a concave rock. If you lift it up, it's a CUC cemetery in there.... very, very sad. I've also seen the goby pick up snails in his mouth and bring it back for the shrimp. I even feed them!

I can hear him popping off all night, and his entrance is made of shells and dead sps frags that he has stolen, which sucks, because sometimes I don't even notice the frags are missing
