Have had these clams a little prior to rap. They appear to be maxima hybrids (rides are not as pronounced as they use to come in with). They Are doing generally well. Prices and sizes below. Lmk which asked on pic. pics are under days with camera filter (hard to capture colors).

Sm blue $80
Med gold (2 available)$110
Large blue (2 available) $140

Nice! Looks like a good assortment of maximas. The lack of scutes doesn't indicate hybrid, it just means they were collected in the wild and their scutes are usually worn off as they grow. It's common for aquacultured clams to have scutes, especially small ones, but all seem to be maximas and no hybrids. The second one could be a crocea, but I would need to see the byssal opening. GLWS! Great looking clams!

Thanks for the feedback. I don’t think wild clams are still collected. Fairly sure all these are farmed.

Most clams that enter the hobby are cultured, but wild clams are still collected but don’t do well long term. If it’s over 5” to 6” long, it’s most likely wild collected. Those that don’t sell to the hobby are sold for food, which is where most of the clams that are cultured are used for.

Yeah. Most go to be eaten. I’m reporting what the importer informed me, in regards to them being cultured.
