Okay I'm bored at jury duty. Wanted to throw a question out there..

My tank is TALL!!! 40 in stand and 26in Tall tank and is eurobraced. I got it tall cuz it was a helluva deal and I want to stop sticking my hands in the tank. Anyways, now I have address cleaning the starfire glass. I plan on going BB, at least for now until i get sick of it.

questions..

1. Should I try to protect the bottom glass from the rocks?? It feels really odd to put rocks directly onto the glass.
2. How do you all with Starfire glass clean your tanks?

I've read that people use Fresh new Razors,Kent Marine metal scraper, or credit/hotel room cards. Anyone use Mr Clean magic erasers? Any issues here? I'm definitely staying away from magfloats.

Mr clean dissolves when you use it so I wouldn't on the inside. I don't like putting any rocks in the glass and scape it so I can fit a scraper in between the rock and glass. Razors work the best but is a PITA. I use the kent scraper most of the time. They don't work so great cuz it never provides flat pressure on the blade but it does the job

Oh I didn't know me clean dissolves, I used it a couple of times in my acrylic tanks.

also when I've used the kent razors before I noticed they bend very easily. I guess I'll stock up on a mess of razors.

Shawn is right. The Mr. Clean erasers fall apart as you use them. They also make a terrible noise and feel weird to me, strange I know. For a 40" tall tank you will no doubt need a scraper. I personally have a 24" tall tank and use a hammerhead float. It works alright but since I put LEDs on my tank my algae seems to grow hard as cement. After a week the hammerhead can't keep up with the thick growth. I've been taking a fresh razor to the inside of my tank every other week for a couple months now. It is a PITA to clean manually but it gives me a certain nostalgia that feels great afterwords.

I can't comment as to the bare bottom concerns you have. Never had a BB but my next tank will probably be BB. They look so much cleaner than a sand bed.

I use the Mr clean on my tank as do many others with no issues. I lobe them and its the only thing I use to clean the inside except for the occasional scraper to get some heavy stuff off. I have acrylic and they work great. It must be the original though

Yea I used the original mr clean with no ill affects on my acrylic tanks, I was just concerned with the rubbing action on the tanks, but then again since I'm going bb it shouldn't be an issue. I think I'll be using both mr clean and a scraper for the bottom part of the tank

My eurobrace is at 70" with a 12" bar in my way, I found my Piranha Float in a seeclear sock do a nice job cleaning up.
