Clown fish pair - one passed away, would like to add another single to try bonding

So about 4 months ago I purchased a bonded pair of Premium Black Ice clown fish. The smaller one got sick about 2 weeks after purchasing and passed away (was quick within 24 hours) Fast foward to today. We still have the larger one and she is bouncing away :target: in her Nems happy and healty. I would like to try to introduce another clown to see if she would bond :hug:.

Good idea? Bad idea?

Any recommendations on how to introduce so she doesn't mutilate :fencing: the new addition?

Get a smaller one, and wait and observe. Sometimes they bond quick, sometimes they don't. Just gotta be patient. Clowns are weird lol

I'd get one if I were you. Like Zoarder said, just get a smaller one. What size is your reef tank?

Ty guys. I did end up picking up a smaller guy. Put him in a submerssed acclimation box so we could see the reaction of the old clown. New guy escaped over night. Next morning both were hanging out. Then tonight they were both hunkerd down in the nem. Wife is a happy camper now
