I've got a maroon clown hosting in a condylactus. He sometimes nibbles on the nem and I've been finding chucks of the tentacles everywhere and he's looking pretty bare now. is this common? Will the tentacles grow back? Any help is appreciated.

R u watching the clown pull tentacles off? When nems get stressed they can loose tentacles by them selfs. How big is the nem compared to the clown?

Yes the tentacles will grow back when the nem is stress free.

I've seen him chewing on the tentacles but not pulling them off. Stress may be the problem though.
Yea my clowns suck on the tentacles like nips all the time. If u actually saw the MC ripping them off then that would b the fish. But I my self think its stress. If the clown is about the same size as the nem then the clown could b causing the stress. Especially maroon clown are really rough on small nems.
What are the nitrate levels in the tank?

There are no nitrates but the clown is probably a bit bigger than the nem. Well with his missing tentacles he is definitely bigger. I was thinking of getting a bubble tip. Do you think if the clown had a bigger nem to spend his time with that the other one would have time to recover?

From my understanding, condylactus nems don't play well with any fish. The nem might be rejecting the fish and the fish is fighting back. Emac is more knowledgable on the nem issue though

condylactus nem are jerks guy they don't host really anything it is probably hurting the clown or sting it because it has one of the worst stings of most nems and it is pissing him off and biting it in return the nem was super cheap right and probably all white to right

Haha he was a little bit more than the white condys because he's a sweet green and purple tipped one. I used to have one of those 8 dollar white ones when I first started. I'm gonna grab a bta tomorrow and see if the clown leaves the poor condy alone. I had a bta but he got too close to a power head :(. The clown switched to the condy so I kinda just left him after that.
