Hey! I'm that annoying guy who doesn't seem like he knows what he's doing.
Just thought i'd share my dip into saltwater from planted.
Here's what I got so far...
Tank: 3G jbj pico

Filtration: built in API/sump thing. 4-6 lbs live rock

Lighting: raised par38 (seems too strong just on the mount) for daytime, and 2 boyu actinic lights for morning/evening.

Fluval heater in built in sump.

Clean up crew:
2 small red leg hermits
3 alien looking sand shifting snails
1 turbo snail
2 idk snails that eat green spot algae

Livestock:
Baby onyx percula with one white spot on one cheek (temporary till bigger tank is cycled)
Eagle eye zoas
Green bubble tip anemone (temporary till bigger tank is cycled)
Frogspawn
And some other frags beanmachine hooked it up with!

I know this seems crazy but my nem has already found a spot he likes, I do daily top offs and biweekly water changes. My params are good, nitrates a little higher than I'd like but working on it. My temperature also fluctuates about 1 degree far.

Here's some pics!

Pics arent the best, iPhone 5 haha
*keep in mind it's a work in progress... I dont want too many corals in there while I have the nem.

New tank is a 36" x 8" x 9" tank, otherwise known as the 12g long. I may run a 20g sump on it though to help with what I plan on doing with it. It's going to be a work of art, at least till i crash it :p

Thanks, I'll take what you say as compliments since you're the zoa champ. Haha, but really if you think my stuff can use some work, I'm all game for critique
Things look good. Keep your params stable and you should be good to go. Zoa champ lol plenty of others here with nicer zoas and more knowledge then me.

Looks spacious actually. Good luck with the 12L. I've been wanting to do a planted 1 for awhile now, even thought about a mini reef....but never got to it. Posts pics of the build when you can.

I'm either doing the 12g long with a HOB aquaclear 110 with a tunzee and mini refugium or with a 20g sump. It'll have 3 par 38 with mostly blue actinics. Trust me, it'll be niopoooocee.
