Anyone know where I can purchase a couple of 55g plastic containers (drums) for salt mixing?

You could try searching craigslist or go to home depot and use the brute trash cans. I used those to mix salt with and never had a problem.

I have two spare barrels for $20 and I'm right next door. Originally I used them to transport salt water from Scripps, so they have are not the type with an open lid. I cut one of them for my use with a circular saw took me less than 15 minutes to cut, clean, and sand for sharp edges. If you want the open top type, I bought some from some guy in Ontario, he had a huge selection of stuff.
