So i have a credit at the store since my copperband died in less than 24 hours, Should i get some peppermints instead or try my luck with another copperband and just ask the lfs to pick me one thats a lil fatter that is for sure eating? Also need to call him before noon when he heads down that way,. I have 3 fish currently, a perc, lawnmower, n mellenarus.

Melanarus will prolly try to pick the shrimp off well at least mine did anyways. Copper bands are always hit and miss. Out of 10 copper bands you might get 2-3 that will be successful in an reef aquarium. If your looking for something that eats aptasia then I recommend an aptasia eating file fish. Only down fall is that they will go after acans once there no more aptasia to eat.

Will the filefish typically start on acans after they finish off aptasia? Or eat both at the same time?
I had a file fish that ate my acans, and left the aptasia alone....

I tried peppermint shrimp, bought about 4 of them, and the next morning, they were all gone...Why ? because I had a Melanarus in the tank.

How big is your tank ? I would try a copperband again. Only if its big enough, and you have plenty of Aptasia and small feather dusters for him to feed on.

Tank is a 40 gal. N i only have one feather duster that is a lil bigger than a full hand streched out.
IMO The larger the tank the better with having success with a CB. If you only have a few Aptasia, then I wouldn't try a CB.They need a fairly large tank, a friendly tank, ( less stress the better ) and plenty of food for them to graze on ( aptasia and small feather dusters ).

Try the Majano wand. http://majanowand.com/
It works great for aiptasia and majano anemones. Only problem is it can be hard to hit ones at tight angles and behind rocks. Other option is remove your rock into a separate tank for the peppermints to clean then put the rock back into your DT.

Like Mr Plant told me,. i called it in earlier n ask my lfs to get me the australlian species! How do you distinguish the 2 apart though?
Hmmm good question, I heard they are a bit larger. But the big deal is they should already be eating, so make sure you see him eat before you buy......

Not 2 spp. They are the SAME sp. The only way to tell is by trusting what the importer/wholesaler/LFS says. Of course as with all things Aussie, it will command a premium price as well. ;)

K well i didnt make sure he was eating cause i didnt want to double acclimate such a delicate fish. He is doing good not eating yet, but he is going non stop picking around the rocks, seen him eat a few baby feather dusters that were almost hard to see. He seems to be getting along just fine with the rest of my fish.
