I find that a lot of times when I bring a coral home from the LFS that the colors on the coral seem to fade after a few weeks in the tank. The corals are not bleaching they are all open healthy and growing.

What are some factors you've learned to help your corals colors be more vibrant and as bright as they were in the LFS?

Thanks in advance!

Light, the placement on the tank, flow, amino acids,

Look at the lights where you get the coral, where is it place on the tank and the distance from the light could help

I've actually done all that, even as far as making sure I'm using the same exact bulbs even measuring par levels. I don't test for potassium or iodine how much of a factor would those be in aiding the coloration of corals?

How long does the LFS have the corals for? Most of the time wild pieces are a crap shoot. They come in really nice and then you don't know what it will turn out to be. Sometimes very nice, sometimes they just go brown.

I actually usually have the store hold pieces for a couple weeks before bringing them to my tank.

As for water parameters I try to keep my tank as close to the following.

Cal: 450
Mag: 1300
Alk: 8.9
Salinity: .025
Temp: between 77-79
