Anyone know a good method to catch the little bastards, recommendations for traps, anything helps. Thanks everyone

Yes, the method is to never out one into your tank. 😀. Just kidding.
Try turning the light off at night for an hour or two. Than shine a flash light to fine him. The darker the room the better. If he hides at night try to time it before he goes into his cave. This method helped me catch most fishes that are hard to catch. Good luck!

Without knowing how big the tank is …. I’ve had a lot of luck using specimen containers and small net.

The fish don’t see the specimen containers at all and you can usually chase them into them following the sides of the aquarium. Employ a helper for a extra set of hands to block off other areas.

I’d say this method is good for 100 gallon and under.

Oh ok cool cool I got a 80 gal so I’ll try this out, my fault for not including tank size, it was an impulse post due just recently being outsmarted by them
