So I've had this 125T for almost 18 months now, and after the last HOB overflow mishap, got the "fix it or sell it" from the fianc. Thanks to some OT at work, was able to order my overflow and some gate valves. I will keep this updated as the project evolves.
Current tank and sump shot:

Overflow setup is a slim box through the back to bean setup. I went overkill, 2" bulkheads through to 1.5" down, was the same price as 1.5" through to 1" down. I am going to leave the emergency at 1.5", siphon and open will be downsized to 1". The plan is to turn the 125 into a MONSTER sump/fuge when I buy a house in a year or 2 and do a 200 in wall:

Got 3x 1" gate valves so I can setup the bean, mod my ASM skimmer and use a gate to feed the fuge off my return manifold when I upgrade the return pump. The more I read about the SP4, seems like I am going to go that direction...

Update: Scored a 60g for $65 at a LFS for a new sump today. This one is going to run without socks: return<-fuge<-skimmer<-intake. Still waiting on overflow setup to come in....

Cool!!! To the future wifey
And she is reef safe, unless it involves frozen foods or the skimmer cup...

So I thought I would post up my design for my new sump. No filter socks in this one, flow is right to left. Going to try the 10-20% total volume for a fuge on this one. 125 DT and about 35g normal volume on the sump. I'm not too worried about the smaller return section, I have an ATO (holds 8g) and only loose about 3/4-1g a day without it topped off, and an SP4 should still fit in there (guess what I told the fianc I want for X-Mass...):eyebrows:

Any ideas/concerns/input?

Small update, still waiting on overflow. They found a problem with it and had to make me a new one. It shipped on Tuesday so hopefully will have it this weekend. Going to order glass for the sump (build sump if they have it on hand), get (and paint) the plumbing, and as long as I get the overflow planning on fragging some GSP to the overflow. Saw a tank that had a coast-coast with GSP covering it and looked pretty cool. Drilling planned for next weekend as long as everything comes in this weekend!

Whats the general feeling on 90s with a bean drain setup? I know to avoid them on returns, trying to figure out the drain and going to be "fun" with 45s....

$70 later after a trip to Lowes on Saturday, and have what should be the last of the plumbing parts. Everything except about 1/2 of the return is going to be solid SCH 40.

Another question about the drains. I worked on a dry fit setup this weekend for under the stand. Does anyone see an issue with the drains running Emergency-Partial-Siphon from left->right? Wanted the siphon in the center, but having a spacing issue with all the unions and height available. Got it down to about 6" horizontal on the siphon and zero horizontal with partial, and zero horizontal on emergency.

Think I'm going to "bling out" the pipes. Black for drains(red fittings on full siphon), Red for emergency, Blue for return, back/bottom/sides of sump, and "dress up" my skimmer pipes, and Green for manifold. Figure with all the unions to make maintenance easy, color coding everything will make it easier to put back together, and prompt me to do it more often as I should.

So TapTalk was being a pain last night and wouldn't let me post everything. Lights are 6x80w T5HO and 2x48" Exotica LEDs. LEDs are not where they are pictured anymore, not enough room. Glass for sump ordered FINALLY yesterday, hoping to get a phone call today about it. Drill bit came in yesterday. Need to build sump after glass comes in, let it cure for at least a few days, and get to drilling....

Since I have to drain the tank to drill it, New sand? How much of the current sand can I safely reuse? Deepest section is about 2"

So this weekend was an adventure. Drain, empty, drill, new sump in, 24hr flu, leaking external overflow box, and broken glass intake cover.... Got it all done though. Havent had time to completely dial in the external bean to be silent, but is A LOT quieter than the HOB with the return wide open. LOTS of micro bubbles in the intake and skimmer section, but none making it through the fuge to the return. At work now until Friday, but will get some pics of the new setup and scape up this weekend.

New/Upgrade/Updated System:
125g Tall with 60g Sump/Fuge(about 40g operating volume) ~20g Fuge section
ASM G2 Bubble Plate and Gate Valve mods
QuietOne, think its about 900-1000gph after head loss don't remember the model though
-2 Reactors off return manifold (Carbon and Purigen/GFO)
Odyssea 4 bulb T5HO (2x Plant, 1x 6500k, 1x 10000k) opposite of DT lights

Odyssea 4x80w T5HO with LED Moonlights and built in timer (Actinic & B+, Actinic & AquaBlue Special)
2x80w T5HO 10000k for mid-day burst
2x Exotica 48" Blue and Blue/Magenta
WP25
Koralia 1050 4 times a day for 2 hours for tidal sway.
