I changed my RODI filters and did a WC and the next day this algae appeared? Are these diatoms? And why did they happen after doing a wc? 87534CA8-9F7B-4330-BE09-0DB3E86F5EF5.jpg 4FFFE3FF-944D-4360-8ECC-7B9F7FA2292E.jpg 7C13CF96-E651-4563-93A7-67BD0E27E574.jpg

Either that I'm guessing or Dinoflagellates.
Did you disturb the sand bed or something?
Did you flush your rodi?

A very small percent of the sandbed got disturbed due to an increase in flow. I let the rodi run for about 10min prior to using the water.
I do not see any air bubbles trapped in the stringy algae.
Will this situation rectify itself with weekly water changes?

If it's dinoflagellates then you will need the heavy guns by that I mean you need to increase your bacteria population.

I can dig up some solid directions if you need them.

Yea, no bubbles might not be dinoflagellates.

Maybe your water has high silicates. Did your city change water. Wierd if happen after filter change / then water change.

Maybe someone else can chime in.

Thanks for the information. I may just go get some premix or rodi from my lfs and do my wc with that for a bit to see if that helps.

I'd stick with your own RODI unit. New membrane and filters should be giving you clean water. Also, Dinos love clean water. How big of a water change did you do and what were ur nitrates and phosphates at prior to the water change? Maybe sudden drop in nutrients allowed whatever you have to take off. Do some more water changes and siphon out that stuff.
