I am fighting a losing battle against dinoflagellates. Has any one used fauna Marin Ultra Algae X with success? Does any one know where to purchase it, either store or Online? Lastly, does anyone know what it is, what are the ingredients? Would like to know what I am putting in to my tank before just blindly dumping it in. I can't seem to find that information. Have read great reviews but can not seem to find it available anywhere.

Also considering adding a algae scrubber, but can not find good reviews of its success with dinoflagellates other than the manufactures of the products.

Have you tried dripping kalk 24/7 to combat the Dino with increased ph?

Doubt you'll find a miracle in a bottle for this type of algae but I guess to each their own.

Had it, lost it. They stop selling Fauna Marin Ultra algae x, due to ingredient problem i believe. Best suggestion is start over, save so much time and effort. You can try the H2o2 & light out methods, but it's just a losing battle.

I beat dinos with hydrogen peroxide. Took about 2 weeks. No losses. There are a lot of threads on reef central. If you go this route, please do your research.

How I cured mine…
I did a 15g WC, siphoned out as much as I can followed by netting the floaters. Then I took black trash bags and wrapped my whole tank even the screen cover. Basically there was no light penetration . I feed once a day . only light that was on was my fuge… skimmer stayed on. Within 4 days any trace of dino was eradicated… unfortunately I didnt take any picture of the. Process or else id post.

During the blackout period I had no fish or corals lost. From my research it was pretty bleak in eradictaion. Research also shows theirs are a variety of dino, some are hardier and harder to eradicate. I added a 4th day to the process, due to the fact that other fellow reefers tend to do 3 days with blacking out th3 glass only while leaving the top expose to light. Hence my choice in doing a COMPLETE blackout… ..restarting/redoning my tank over was my very last option.

Want to see a specific powerful option

Google this
Pico reef pest algae challenge thread

Don't skim, read it all. Get a little myopathy headache but in the end get examples too before and after, hit all 60 pages worth it-
Works on dinos too

So, I am going to try h2o2. Where do you add it? Put it in dt or in the sump? Does it matter? How often to repeat and for how long? Any reason to turn off return pumps or wp 25? Any advice is welcome.

Too much or to little could drastically affect or no effect to ur system. .why not try my non adjective non lethal approach 1st prior to h2o2

I am currently doing the black out period. But after exhaustive blog reading it seems that for most dinos were reduced but not eliminated. Many folks but not all by any means had some success will blackout plus h2o2. I am just trying to maximize the likelihood of long term success. Most people report no significant problems from using h2o2.

Update, I did a 4 day no lights but not total blackout and all the dinos disappeared and so far have come back when lights were turned back on, but it has only been 4 days. I am hoping it is this easy. I am sure it won't be. I have been in contact with the dino king, Greg Sanchez, at algeid.com and he has identified multiple dino spp. in my water. Further analysis is pending. So no H202 for now, but he is recommending an algae turf scrubber in the future.
