Ever have those moments in life when something happens and there's about a 3 second moment when you say to yourself "did that just really happen?" Well, it happened. I spent 10 years in the Navy and every time I was trasfered somewhere, there was always a tank to move, so I became pretty good at it. Now that I'm out of the Navy, those moments don't come along that often, but this past weekend we moved into our new house. The last thing to move was our glass 180 reef tank. I had it loaded onto the back of the truck and drove the mere 9 miles to it's new resting place.
Well, I was sitting at a stop light about a mile away from the destination (wife behind me in the car). As I started to go I felt the truck lunge and caught a glimpse of my 180 tip up and slip out the back of the truck followed by a very loud CRASH!!!! The next 14 words out of my mouth I will not repeat out of respect for Jessie's son.
Yes, it happened and I am crushed, but what what can you do. That tank was so heavy that I figured that i didn't need to strap it down. Take it from me...strap it down!
I'll attach some heart-wrenching pics. Needless to say that I'm on the hunt for a new tank and not much of a budget to spend after dropping a load on this house.
Side note: the fish and in a very large rubbermaid container all healthy and fine for now. I'm doing little water changes each night, but would like to get them out of there asap.
What a day.
