ive never considered that for chaeto. im not such a fan of this algae. I thought the goal of spinning was to expose it to as much light from all angles as possible. to that end, I used to blast chaeto with 5k CF light from ontop and LEDs from the sides 24/7 & it grew well. but boring!!!!
i used to grow ogo (gracilaria) for my tangs & I had to keep that tumbling. but that was because in the wild ogo grows in tidal areas with violent back & forth waves, like along the shore. eventually all powerheads got clogged, so like others, I injected air from under to keep it tumbling- it was too much work, the salt creep, not to mention it was wierd to have to feed the ogo a silverside every week.
