We have 4 beautiful tangs (maybe one in the eye of the beholder.) Purple, Sohal, Desjardini, and Hippo that range around 3-4 inches. Everyone's fat and sassy in our 265G. I want more tangs with as much ease as possible. I know the general rules. 1)Add smallest first and then work your way up, so they can hold their own. 2)Same shaped fish generally don't get along. 3)Then there is the exception that breaks all the generalities and is a freak.

My geometry is a little off, because I'm not too good at picking out the same shapes. To me a purple and yellow tang are shapped the same. Other than that........ Please help the "small brain" here with suggestions of what to go with and what not to. Much appreciated. :noidea:

Haha nice thread title. ;)

A couple tricks that can be helpful when adding potentially aggressive new fish:

- add multiple new fish at the same time. If you add just one fish he's "the new guy" that everyone beats on. If you add multiple new fish it spreads the aggression around and lessons the likelihood that any one fish is goin to get overly bullied.

- use a clear in-tank separator / holding box for the first few days. This allows the new fish to acclimate to the new water chemistry, but more importantly gives your current fish time to see and accept him without being about to actually get I him and bully him.

It's decided. I'm adding a vlamingii. Wanting to try adding more than one fish at a time, I'll have to check out what else is in. Any other suggestions?

Here he is everybody

He's super chill eats from your hand and let's you pet him. No joke

The salifin and sohal are giving him a welcome but its not bad at all. The purple and blue don't seem to mind him at all.
