Does water normally get cloudy mid way through cycling?

Like the title states,my water has become slightly cloudy. I have a 50 gallon cube, full setup from sc aquariums. It came with all of this filtration and bio balls with the sump (as pictured). I was told by others that it was not needed and that a sock and skimmer was enough. The tank cleared up like glass, I pulled all of the included filtration out about a week ago and put a sock in and the tank is still cloudy. I'm about 2 and a half weeks into the cycle and the ammonia levels are starting to drop but the tank remains cloudy. I was curious if I am missing a step in filtration or if this is part of the cycle process. Any pointers? Thanks!

Honestly, every tank and every set up differs. When I set up my 30 Gal nano cube, it went fine and cycled without any "milkyness". Had a diatom bloom and faded away quickly and then the params were good. But after I set up my 90 Gal, soooo much happened to it. I had milky, cloudy water - Diatoms that just wouldnt seem to let up, and random hair algae that grew out of nowhere. I was scared to put fish or anything in there until it was all perfect and that lasted almost 2 months until everything got under control.

So my advice would be to not worry about your filtration or anything, let the cycle complete itself and ride it out. Patience is the key, and if you start messing with things you might just make the initial cycle even longer. That's just my 2 cents though.

Part of the cycle....NTS..new tank syndrome. Will clear up after the bacteria in the tank abundant.
