Dosing Potassium and Iodide.

I picked up some Potassium and Iodide on Friday. I wasn't sure if It was going to just be another pair of dust collecting bottles. I decided to add a little of both yesterday and my acans are loving it!! Some of my acans had lost their vibrancy.. They didn't have the color punch that they once had.. It's been a day and a half and the Reds, Blues and Greens are coming back with a vengeance!!!

I'm going to pick up tests kits tomorrow as I don't want to overdose.. As of right now I'm a firm believer though..

Anyone else using these additives??

Nice. Update your progress, tank setup and dosing amounts. Currently those bottles ARE collecting dust in my supply cupboard. Maybe I'll pick up a potassium kit and start dosing as well. I stopped dosing iodine after reading that you can only test for one form and that spooked me. It was a while back whwn i first started so I could be wrong though.

I added half a cap of potassium and just a few drops of Iodide for the same reason.. I will let you all know my test findings.

I dose potassium every day with 2-part and magnesium. I dose iodine 2x a week. The iodine is lugol's which is strong.

No all Continuum. The Continuum stuff is pretty strong I find. 1ml for every 5 gallons increases my dKH by 1 and Ca by 30. I am depleting 1dKH every 2 days right now so this is daily dosage on my 30g net system.

Part A - 3ml
Part B - 3ml
Mg - 3ml
K - 1.5ml

My K tester only goes up to 400 but I stopped testing as I am way beyond that at this point. I do a soft reset via 8g water change once a week which is ~27%. I skim hard and run GFO, rox carbon 24/7 which gets replaced religiously every 2 weeks. The only way I test positive for phosphates is using the ULR Phosphorous. I keep my SPS happy by feeding aggressively. I basically feed my SPS every day with Fuel and Coral Vitalizer on scattered schedule. I have found that controlling the nutrients in the water has made it a lot easier to keep my SPS happy. I also do liquid carbon in the form of KZ Coral Snow every day.

I also have an 18W UV system that is there for emergencies. If I notice some weird growth I will turn it on for 12 hours just to be safe. So far it really only gets turned on once a month or so. I will also drop it in my Scripps water for 24h if I notice something not up to snuff when I get it before the water change.
