Hey guys, just bought a new tank 24x24x12 (30g) and am wanting to drill the sucker! Sadly Local Fish shop doesn't drill tanks. Does Anyone know any shops that drill tanks or any members that do them? Im still deciding what size to drill also, tank is 30 gallons, any ideas what size to go with? As Always much thanks!

Order a diamond tip drill bit on eBay. Cheap. Diy. I drilled a bunch lately and it was my first Tims. Just need a decent high revolution drill. I used hammer drill not on hMmmer mode of course. The bit was 12$ or so shipped.

+1 to the above.

I just drilled my tank over the weekend. Just use a good drill, and take your time. Took me almost 2.5 hours for 2 holes through 5/8" glass. I think my bit was $15 for 1.5" bulkheads.

Drill is pretty Important. The faster the revolution. The easier your life will be. I got through each hole In About 15 mins though. But I'd take my time. Lucky for me I had a test glass since I removed the overflow box. So I was able to put a lot of pressure on it while testing. The thinner the glass the less pressure you should put on it as well obviously.

I too drilled for 1.5" bulk head. Remember if you use schedule 80 you'll need a bigger bit. Its so easy I'm drilling a bunch if holes for the hell of it. Doing one on my sump as an emergency overflow in case the display drains for some reason. Sump is in garage so it'll drain Into my yard.

I think it took me as long as it did because it was my first time drilling a tank. If I were to do it again, probably 20-30min per hole on 5/8".
