So if you had to choose, what would you do? Hook up your MP's to the battery backup or only hook up your vectra? Which one do you guys think is more efficient for a power outage?

I kind of having the same question. I have a float switch in my overflow box which help the apex know when my tank overflow so it can shut the pump off.
If the pump hooks to a battery backup then it will not turn off even when the apex shut it off.

Anyone having any idea?

Efficiency would be circ pumps but the return pump would be my preference because you'd keep your filtration working too. Your overflow will add some oxygen too.

I would hook up the vortechs over the return pump. I feel with the return going it could be cooler down my tank faster than I would like without the power to have a heater running.

I would have a couple of powerheads on the backup batt. They will be more efficient and give you a much longer run time for the limited amount of battery power.
