Egg crates?

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie and will be setting up my aquarium soon. Quick question though...

Should I be putting egg crates (those white grid like thing) in the bottom of my acrylic aquarium? Would that help keep the sand in place and stacking of rocks? Or would be more if a nuisance in the future?

Depends. Some people use it like you said to support your aquascape and try to keep sand in place, but depending on the sand and flow it will still blow. It can become a problem for some fish that use the sand like wrasse and goby.
