So it's no secret that I'm a gyre fan and I was running 2 fx150 in this tank b4. This time around I'll be running 3. Last time I ran one in the center of the overflow vertically mounted and it ran on alternating gyre mode. So I did this so the tank would have an alternating current ever few min. Well this time I will be doing the same thing but with one difference. Instead of having 1 gyre mounted on the center of the overflow I'll have a gyre mounted on each side of the overflow. I know your thinking but unless u time the controllers perfect Eric u won't get alternating current. This was my dilemma before. If the controllers aren't perfectly time then both pumps could be pushing water at the same time. Well there was talks that there was going to be a wireless controller that would marriage up with other controllers like Eco tech has. But I don't see them controllers coming any time soon now that they have the ice cap box that allows u to control the gyre via apex.
Well sense I don't have an apex and I'm running an aqua controller 3 and see that there's no need to spend the extra cash on an apex. The ac3 does everything I need it to. This means the ice cap adapter won't work for me. So I would need to time the controllers perfect. Unless and yes unless I could get one controller to run 2 pump.
Intruding the the 2 pump gyre controller
This was a beta controller that went dead and I fixed it so it really was a spare part for me. I also had a few other parts from the beta pumps. One part being the smaller wire harness. I soldiered the beta harness to the board and cut the hole for the extra wire to come out of the casing.
It's been running 2 pumps for a full day now with no problems.
It works perfect too. When one pump is pushing water down one side of the tank the other pump is just creating turbulence around the pump. Then when the pumps switch direction the other pump creates turbulence and the second one pushes water in the other direction. To create an alternating current in the tank.
