Just got a new set up. Approx 600 gal. I am looking for some info (either good or bad) on brand of pump to use. Needs to move around 5000 gph.
Anyone with recommendations or horror stories ??? OR a used pump available??

Much appreciation.:adore:

I like the Reeflo pumps. When you get up to moving that much water around, it ain't gonna be cheap.

How important is head pressure/height as opposed to gph in a reef pump??
I notice Reeflo has 2 different series of pumps. My height to push, should be no more than three feet.

I use the Dart on my 300G tank. If you are just using it for a return, you don't need the pressure pumps. Why do you think you'll need 5000GPH? If you are planning on running a lot of other things off it, that's fine. If it's just for return, remember that's a lot of water going through your sump and you'll probably have microbubble issues. For additional flow inside the tank, use powerheads.

I am just going by MarineDepots pump page. It says the dart is good up to 100-200 gal. 5000 gph was base on 8x turnover on 600 gallons. I was going to split the return into 4 to distribute it. The tank itself is about 300 gal....the rest is in the sump. So, you think 5000 is overkill?

so you need a pump that can do 2800 gph. You need to calculate your total head pressure. There is a calculator on RC.

I love the sequence pumps. I have a wahoo and it is very quite. But large.
