Does anyone know if Eye Candy Aquariums sold yet?

I remember the owner listed it for sale weeks back.

I talked to my partner and we would consider taking over depending on the spreadsheets.

Haven't tried calling yet.

If you stop by, let me know please.

My partner and I are looking to invest into a new business. Was looking at a restaurant for a while until I convinced him to take a look at the fish store business. He is up for it depending on profit/loss margin.

The restaurant biz might get you a better return... there is stiff competition running a LFS in Socal.

Plus you'd definitely have to change the name as Eye Candy wasn't that great IMO.

We looked hard into a restaurant and calculated profit at about 6 months into it. However, if we take over a selling restaurant, it's a different story.

Thing I don't like about eye candy aquariums is the location, but it is fixable rather easily.

Wow, you looking at either a restaurant or a fish store? Are you just looking for a challenge? I would assume they would be some of the tougher business ventures to sustain a good positive cash flow, specially if its just for an investment, either of those options would require alot of hands on....

maybe instead of the show Restaurant Impossible, they could make Fish Store Impossible?

Hmmmm..

Good luck in whatever venture you choose.

Yeah your surrounded in GG and Fountain Valley... way too much competition close by. Coral Collection, Tongs and Reef Raft are all near each other, then when you factor in the other surrounding stores and how limited the market is that is a really tough business. Which is why we should all support those stores that are still around.

Naw cold stones are old...the yogurt shops are where it's at. Hire 1 person to refill the self serve machines, and collect the $$$. Restaurants are not bad, as long as u plan on being hands on. Fish store.....ehh u better really enjoy the hobby.

Good luck

Before doing something goofy like buying a fish store, go talk to any store owner or a sales rep for any of the manufacturers (because most used to own stores).

Both businesses are only something we are looking into right now. Nothing concrete yet. As investors, we are only looking for a percentage of the company not including running the business, but we would have some say in the daily operation. When we looked into the restaurant, we had veterans in the restaurant business lined up to work with us as well as a 15 year experienced chef. I am definitely not getting into something that I have no knowledge of. As for the fish store, it would be kind of similar principle. Like I said, profit/loss margin has to be determined first before anything else. That is why finding why Eye Candy Aquariums is closing would be a good start.

buy a fish store to make money? lol good luck to you. Go invest in coldstones franchise and get rich.
Opening a Coldstone would make me pay royalties to the franchise. Definitely not looking for a franchise for sure.

Before going into too much debate and details. Please note that I only said that I would look into it. It is not 100% sure.

Starting a non franchise restaurant in this economy is very risky! U pay the royalties as a thank u for keeping customers walking thru the door. With out that "Coldstone" name, customers would be tough to find. Lol.

U might consider investing in gold or the stock market. Those are prolly safer then a non franchise restaurant or a fish store. Seriously

Hopefully you and your investor aren't looking at making a profit in your investment.

Home prices cheaper than dirt, interest rates are so low it's like free money, mass amounts of people needing to rent and rent prices increasing every month.

Yea, let's buy a failing fish store! We're such smart investors.

Do you two have any actual experience in being investors or are you winging this?
You picked just about the two worst and hard markets in Southern California and besides having a fish tank and eating at a restaurant it appears you have no experience in either.

Already investing into gold. However, I think that gold is only temporary.

I have to say it again. Just looking into it, not diving into it. Big difference. That's why i previously mentioned that we need to see why the store is closing in the first place. I started the post asking if the store was sold and the possibility of investing into it, I did not ask if the store was sold and that i was going to buy it if it wasn't. For all I care, I can buy it and turn it into a cash for gold if I wanted to.
