I sold my enormous skimmer on ebay the other week and shipped it off to Alabama or wherever (not important)... Did everything I can to ensure the box would make it, enclosed it w/ foam and brown paper stuff (minus constructing a steel frame)... I mean, I could've gone above and beyond but that would've cost a bundle...

Long story short.... sent in 2 box... one of which was destroyed w/ the collection cup inside....

can't fill a claim cause it has to be w/in 3 days I guess and its been almost a week...

My laptop crashed so I didn't get the recipient's emails in time to make the claims.... I mean, seriously, how often does this happen especially when you've taken so much reasonable care??

LESSON LEARNED and passing on to everyone at SoCali... track you're shipments, insurance is key, and (being a former Fedex employee myself) Fedex employees hate their jobs and WILL maliciously destroy packages just for their own amusement..

Brank New the skimmer is $320.. Ebayed off for $151... right now I have nothing but a bitter taste cause its still in Bama...

Does anyone have a collection cup for a Vertex 180/250 skimmer???

UPS screwed me once too. they said the left like $300 worth of T5 lights and ballasts on the door step even though i was home woking in my front yard at the time they said they left it! i live in a good area so nobody could have stolen it, and i mean i was outside waiting for it because i needed it. UPS guy was so making crap up! took forever to get the AQUAcave to ship a new package because they showed it as delivered. i had to scream at people over the phone to get UPS to issue insurance coverage. in the end i got the replacment but 4 weeks late!

Bummer...I work with a few guys who work either @ UPS or FEDEX part time (child support). The stories I hear are ridiculous. They punt packages and throw them the entire length of tractor trailors. The worst part is they're union jobs(at least UPS). So unless they attach a polaroid of themselves to your package they're pretty much untouchable. I had to return a fractionator today so I used the USPS AND insured it.. but you still got a bum deal.

You need to leave 2 inches (maybe more) around each side in order to be eligible to file an insurance claim anyways.
