Sucks that she doesnt want to stick to her end of the deal but respect the back up plan. Always gotta have a plan B.

Thanks for the replies and PMs thus far.

To clarify one thing: the rocks and corals must go first before equipment.

Fishes won't be resold. They're free and accounted for. However should some go unclaimed I'll sift through my texts and messages and go from there.

I thought I posted this before, guess not.

So when you lend the money to your aunt, did you guys have anything written down which can help you out when time needed to go to court? ( I know it's your family, but still. It's 10k.)
For those of you, in the future which "maybe" will lend money to one of your relatives, write the term down!!!!

I'm borrowing around 10-30k from family members, but I have to write it down on a personal guarantee that need to be payback with low interest. I know a lot of asian people say's, "oh their family members, you know family member always got your back." I call that half bullshit. When your stuck financially, only your parent going to help you out. Rest is there to give you spirit support. If you don't want to lose money, then always write down a personal loan term. Also usually when people in the family come to ask you for money, ask them about their current finance. What's their wages, what's their spending, and how are they going to pay you back ect? You need to go into detail. It's your hard earn money, you need to protect it.

Good luck John, Hope your aunt do pay you back on this. From my understanding of few guys I heard, most of them never talk to that relative again.

Nope. Same asian bullshit. "it's family. They won't do that"

I didn't get involved because it's their business. The 10k owed to my wife is my wife's share of the family business. However her aunt doesn't want to give up her share. whatever. What's done is done.

If I have to break down so be it. Bitching about what did or didn't happen won't change the fact that we are short 10k

Wow, that really sucks man.
Family lending pretty much always goes sour.
I was thinking I would meet you one of these days seeing how we live in the same city.
Hopefully the Aunt comes through...I will have my fingers crossed for you.

I know ima gana sound like a broken record. But that sucks if u have to break down.
I also had a bad family loan experience. A few years back my lady pulled a G and loaned it to here aunt with a same store. "I pay u back next month I just got to get my jeep fixed". At the time I was the only one working and she never even ran it by me. She pulled the money out of the savings and just hoped she could put it back b4 I found out. Well it didn't go unnoticed. At first I thought my account got robbed. Then she told me that she loaned her aunt the money. I was pisses that she did that, I really wanted to tell her to get out of the house, we're done cause I knew from the get go I'd never see the money again. They are horrible with money every time they get a little change they spend it b4 they see it. Even a few months after she loaned her aunt the money they got there tax return back and spent the whole thing on a down payment for a Chevy avalanche that the bank repoed by August. There's only a few people I'd loan money to. That would b my parents and brother and I wouldn't expect it back because there close blood.

Sorry to hear what happened.. but I'm wondering why would you lend that much money especially if an emergency happened and it would leave you guys nothing. . If anything I would of only let her borrow a few grand.. nothing that would make me suffer.. even the fact she's family and trusting that she would pay back. Now with something that big sorry even if blood is thicker then water I'd still ink that agreement up on paper.. 10k isn't a joke nor would I find someone I'm the right mind to lend money to later be short and don't have money to make ends meet.. it's like your setting yourself up imo..
