feeling sad lol

I try to sleep but I cant because I'm sad for some reason lol. This is the story

Over month ago I bought the on sale package $150 (regular is $400) for 3 sps frags and the seller said it has 1 unique and 2 regular sps. So I was so happy with that steal from $400 to $150 for that Limited ONSALE TIME. And this store was the most favorite place, I went most of days and spend good amount for that store so Im very trust the seller.

Then, I dont know 3 of those frag which one is LE one, but now I see they still sell for $150 but not for 3, for 5 frags and I saw all of 3 frags in there.

I just feel unhappy about what has been happened and disappointed. Now I just think, I dont need any special care from the store, all I need is the fair price for all customer. I can't see one day you sell for me cheap, and sell other people higher price or other way.

That is my experience and I think everyone feel the same. Now I can see Price Map is very good point to protect customer. lol

Sorry to hear that lam. Can you please let me know who it was since I'll be dropping some serious change in the near future on sps and I would prefer not to support a business with those practices. I understand that shops or individual vendors have to figure ways of making money but we as hobbyist also have a say in business practices by either giving them our business or by patronizing vendors that are more ethical from our point of view.

That sucks- its never easy in the hobby when prices fluctuate. Sometimes i have paid more, but i justify spending a bit more by acknowledging I had "first dibs" on cherry picking from the frags.

Reef Karma- hopefully the seller will hook you up w/ something special the next time you see them.

From being in sales i've learned that there is ALWAYS room for negotiation, if the price sounds fair then cool don't bring it up, but if you feel you can get a better deal, ask for it. IF they don't budge and never offer any kind of deals then stop buying from them. You would be blown away by the markup on fish and coral, especially coral. Trading is the best route, or buying from hobbyist.

Its unfortunate but it's just the nature of the game. Pieces start out rare and are sold for an astronomical mark up and eventually start to become common place and find its true price. I don't know how many times the guy at the LFS would start his sales pitch with "these used to be $xxx.xx a frag/polyp but we're selling them cheap at $xx.xx!" At least you had first dibs!

honestly if you were happy at the time of purchase then you shouldn't be sad about it. never buy anything you don't think is worth the price. Corals are worth what people are willing to pay for it. Prices change, hype deflates. I remember people were selling red dragon half inch frags for $120. now theyre about $40. nature of the game. enjoy your coral and get some money back when it grows out by selling some pieces.

I don't know who it is and nor do I care. Focus on keeping your creatures happy and enjoy them. At the end if they grow or u trade them things will even out. Main point is keep ur reef happy and u will be happy.

sorry but i disagree with anyone that says he has to suck it up or that it's slow right now or that it's just business. i go into shops (sps coral store comes to mind) that have great reputation for being on the up and up with their customers and they have new tanks in stock almost ever week that were pre ordered and are waiting for the customer to pick up. those businesses aren't "slow" right now. they continue with steady business year round...why is that? because they have built a reputation based on integrity and moral code of standard as opposed to pointing in the air and saying "what's that up there?" while they kick you in the balls and go through your wallet.


p.s lam, just do what i do. some d bag a few years back in oc (that now works at an lfs) told me to come down to his place and pick out some corals and he would give me discounts and even a freebie or two. i did but not only didn't i get a freebie or two, i didn't even get discounts and since i'm not really the type to haggle or beg for ish, i just got my stuff that i paid for and took off and he never saw and will never see (including that lfs) a penny from me again.

I agree with yoda. He has a good point. We waste lots of money on this hobby. Just grow the frags out and trade them around. It might take a year but you can turn those three frags into more frags and expand your collection. Just find a reason to be happy.

i dont want to say the store name because im still very respect them. Couple guys don't understand my point. First, It is just happened couple weeks ago. Secondly, the package I paid " it said $400 valuable and onsale now for $150" and there will be one special limited edition. But finally, there is no LE and not sale at all because right now I saw they sell 5 frags for $150 (not live sale, not sale not everything) instead of i paid for only 3 frags at the ON SALE TIME.

Im ok to spend money or something ok to spend for expensive one, but this is my point you spent $300 for a frag and couple weeks later other reefer say he bought same thing for $100. And yes, you will feel very happy and enjoy when you pay the good one, but next day you tell other reefers, they say you are liar man, i just bought for even more than half price you paid. How you feel though lol? And Im shock because this place is my favorite place and I always think he give me the best deal.

Yeah I would feel betrayed also. Sounds like the vendor got greedy. Its time for you to start shopping around again and find some new and honest vendors!

Yeah it's best that you don't mention the name. We have had enough mob threads lately. Did you bother to talk to this LFS owner before posting? If not, I think you should go down there and talk to them face to face. If they really value your patronage then they will make things right. Just my two cents...
