Okay I am starting to hink my tank is cursed. I got a pair of Firefish Gobies on Saturday. Dripped acclimated them for 30-45 minutes. Freshwater dipped them in methylin blue and then let them sit in just tank water for an hour. Afterwards I placed them into the DT tank and they were doing great swimming around. Got finicky when other fish came up to them checking th, out, but nothing really bad like chasing al over the place. Well the lights went out and they both disappeared (normal I am sure). Didnt see them yesterday for the whole day (although I know they can make burrows and hide in it for extended periods of time). Well this morning I found one Goby out but just sitting on the sand bed in the corner. He isnt breathing fast, but whne other fish come up to him to check him out he moves but doesnt run like he did on Saturday. I checked parameters and everything is spot on. It doesnt have any white spots or torn fins butjust looks like its not doing so great not to mention I havent seen the other one yet. Seems everytime I add a fish them go south. I dunno what to make of it. Maybe my tank inhabitants are contempt with one another and dont wanna add to their extended family? :noidea:

What fish do you have?

Firefish are very timid in my experience. Now that I think about it I haven't seen mine in a few weeks! Hmm... It normally just hands out in the back of my tank. They are also prone to jumping.

Yeah I have lids. I have the following fish:
2 True Percula
2 Yellow tailed Damsels
1 Sailfin D Tang
1 Lyre Tail Molly
4 Green Cromis
1 CBS
2 Peppermint Shrimps
1 red brittle star

Honestly I thought maybe the Damsels were bullying but they are all bark and no bite. Thye just show off their fins and when the other fish doesnt back down they go and hide in their caves. The fires fish darthed back into the rock work so meh maybe he just sleeping and the power head blew him out of his spot. We will see. Atleast one is still alive (assuming the other one is too) since the bangaii and dominos died 24 hours later in the past. Well Ill just keep my fingers crossed lol. BTW that clam is doing great and is absolutely a beautiful mix of purple and blue with specs of black. very nice colors indeed!

Yeah maybe just give it time. They are pretty shy fish. The damsels have to go haha!

Glad you like it, the color will just get better once the zoox algae completely recovers. Almost there!

I dunno seems like everything was great and simple when I had my 72 gallon up. Things flourished and did great. Since I bumped up to this bigger tank it just seems like its way too difficult. I mean somehing has to be wrong here. My only guess is maybe my skimmers arent strong enough cause I did have the CSS 220 on the 72 gallon and it removed alot of very dark stuff. Perhaps I just need to save up for a while and just a buy a really good skimer that is rated well above my setup. I found myself having to do a 24 hour black out period weekly just to keep the cyano at bay. I will cut my lights back too and see if that helps. Right now I need to find out where my organics are coming from as I only feed every other day and I dont feed alot. Unless I am still having die off from my partial melt down weeks ago, but I dont think thats it.

I have leathers but that doent account for the other fish I have had that never die. Either something else is happening or I just have to accept that I cant keep certain fish lol. Just wish I could pinpoint the issue so I dont buy fish and see what dies. gets kinda expensive and inhumane lol.
