Well I wish I would have joined a long time ago.

I started 10 years ago with freshwater 40 then 55 then 125 for about 4 years then got out of it. Bought a house last year and wanted to start a tank again with my 125, then had a perfect spot in the house which is cut out in the living room for a tv that happened to measure 96x24 and with a separate laundry room on the other side of the wall. So an idea was born... Put the TV on a different wall and find a tank with these dimensions. Started researching and buying pieces used here and there. Then decided I wanted to go salt fish only, and again later changed to full on reef tank. Long story short I now have a 300 gal 96x24x30 acrylic reef tank... Custom built stainless steel stand with custom wood face built in. Now the interesting part for all the reefers out their is that because of how I originally bought for freshwater and then changed my mind, I have a rather unorthodox setup. (pics to follow) I have had the tank up and running for 7 months, now with 30+ fish and 70+ coral pieces 50+ inverts. I have changed my water only 3 times in 7 months with absolute 0 nitrates/trites/ammonia.
-Dual sumps total 130 gals
- coralife 300 skimmer (have a huge bermuda skimmer I just picked up used for a great deal, not plumbed in yet)
-3 acan 18" prism LEDs
-Reeflo hammerhead return pump
- 240 lbs live rock
-2 jebao 60 wavemakers
-54 watt UV sterilizer
- the kicker which was originally meant for large freshwater fish; kaldnes k1 designed for water treatment plants. I have a half liter running in a fluidized bed filter that all water volume flows through.
