Hey everyone,

I just wanted to pass this info along to you guys if you're looking for a very good custom metal stand/light rack fabricator. I needed a custom powder coated metal stand ASAP for my FOWLR tank and Nestor came highly recommended to me from Scott. Nestor building/welds race cars for a living so fabricating these tank stands and light racks are a cake for him. His company name is New Line Products and his number is: 714.269.9664.

Here's the stand he just made for me. It measure 98"x30"x30" without the heavy duty leveling feet.

Super clean, flush and ground down welds with mounting tabs:

Heavy duty leveling feet that can support 6,000 lb. each!

Nestor only took 2 weeks to complete the stand. Not only did he do the job quickly, but most importantly, his price was considerably lower than other quotes that I received. He can weld aluminum and stainless steel too. He said aluminum cost relatively the same as steel, but stainless steel is about 4x as much. I highly recommend him if you're looking for a metal custom setup. Just let him know what you're looking for.

I'll be posting my full build thread soon. Thanks for looking!

Yeah, that pic is actually a very old one...at least 7 years old. That gigas got ginormous very fast and I actually donated it to the Aquarium of the Pacific. It sat in their large reef tank for a long time and then I don't know what happened to it.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to share a picture of my new FOWLR tank on the stand that Nestor built. The tank and sump was made by John at AA. They're both beautiful. The tank is 375g and measures, 98"x30"x30". There's plenty of caves and tunnels for all the fish just in case a few get territorial.

I'll start a build thread once I finish making the water and everything is cleaned up. Thanks for looking!

This is something I've been trying to figure out, what do u do when ur not running filter socks? I have 2 sumps with similar filter sock setups. On my display sump, I had john build the filter sock holder very close to the water level. The problem with that, is that now the filter socks tend to float up instead of sitting flush against the acrylic. BUT when I'm not running filter socks, I get zero noise from water splashing.

Now on my frag tank sump, I told john about my previous issue, so he made the sock holder higher up. Now when if I don't run filter socks, it sounds like a water fall under my frag tank. The water falls 4-6" and splashes really bad.

What do u do about that? Just always run filter socks? On my frag tank, that's working alright for me, but on my display I never run filter socks, so there would be a constant water fall going on.

Since all my equipment is in my garage, noise is never really an issue for me. I actually run socks intermittently. Usually if I plan on doing water changes so they'll catch all the detritus stuff that the water chruns up, but I take out the socks when I don't. Since I'm running a refugium, I don't want the socks to catch all the pods and stuff. Plus the socks generally get all plugged up after 4 days anyway and I just toss them.

With this new tank, I'll run socks for like the first month to clean the water, but I don't plan on running socks much after.

Couldn't you just extend the drain pipe with a coupler?

I really like how you utilized that corner niche and then covered everything with beautiful cabinetry...and those drawers! Such a nice setup. Thanks for sharing.
