Anyone know what this is?? They almost seem like sponges but idk
Tried to put a light on em to see if they open.

I have it all over my sump as well. They are sponges.

Sponges harmless but an ugly sight, and they take over fast. You have to manually remove them.

Get an angelfish and they will devour your sponge. But they might also devour your zoas, clams, and any meaty corals like acans.

As others have said, it is a sponge. Since that one is out of water, its hart to tel for sure, but it sure looks a lot like some of them are a pineapple sponge. I have a bunch of these in my overflow and some in the sump... when I turn my return pump off and then back on, a bunch of them come loose and go into places.
