I have had success using a rubberband around the crown. It will take a week or so if you gradually increase the tension on the rubber band. Be sure to keep moderate flow on the leather

After snipping a piece, I glued a short piece of the nd of a toothpick vertically in a frag plug, let I set, then put a drop of glue on it and poked the piece of toadstool on it.

I use razor blade cut all the way around the mother colony then that leave me with a ring I cut that into nice size frags and rubber band them to Frag stones. Not to tight or it will cut the Frag in half and possible float away. I use lighthouse aquatics Frag stones they are nice and have a indent where the Frag sits Nicely and the rubber band won't cut it.

Check out u tube there are many videos on there about fraging leathers

i would also do it this way. then theres no squishing of the toadstool with rubberbands. mine healed over the toothpick in about a week and is growing quite large.
