Ok, so I have never fragged anything,...but to all you experts out there, how hard do you think it would be to seperate this middle coral, from the rest of the colony?

...They are attached to some kind of branch piece.
Any ideas on what its called? i heard "plate coral"?

I have been reading up and checking out any videos i can find on fragging zoo's, so that i can get as prepared as possible...Only wanted to separate because im worried it will get too big and overcrowd the others.

It should fall off the rock on its own. My plate coral just fell off the rock it was attached to yesterday

First off get some gloves and some goggles. Many horror stories about toxins getting the best of people. Even the fumes from people trying to boil them.

Those palys are pretty common, get an exacto knife and cut the coral out that you want. Don't try and save the ones around it. They grow so fast you won't even notice.

Awesome, thanks for the quick responses guys. I know their fairly common and hopefully I will get some exotics soon but for know I just really didnt want to kill any and since the plate looks pretty plain as well, I guess Ill just wait and see if he falls off on his own.

Thanks again!

If you want the plate coral to reproduce over and over again, DO NOT break it off. Underneath the plate is a post which is how they reproduce in the wild. I would cut all the zoos off and leave the plate alone. Eventually it will fall off and grow another.

everytime i frag z's or p's, i always wear gloves, goggles & do the cutting underwater, in a plastic container. i know 2 people that were spit on by the zoas, in the eye & believe me, you end up worse than a boxer with a broken eye socket. good look & happy reefing!

Wow these things sound dangerous, thank you all for the great advice, I'm going to make sure to try and take every precaution and read up before attempting.
