i found this little dude in my rock work and isolated him in a bucket with the piece of LR he was in....after doing some research i figured out its a xanthid species...not reef safe but is an excellent scavenger for a refugium or FOWLR tank...hes free to anyone that isnt going to eat him (Luis) or kill him...wish i could keep him but i dont have the room...dont have any good pics but it has a black carapice and bright red eyes...PM if u want em

At least you got him. keep your eyes open. I have a 25 gal take that has had the same rock for about 3+ years. I found 2 bad crabs when I first got the rock and one about a year later. Then about a month ago I spotted a huge one but he is crazy hard to find. I will search the rock at night only see him once a month. I dont even know where he can hide because i dont have that much rock

i know what u mean...ive had the same rock for over a year....never had any pests aside from a single tiny mantis shrimp...usually at night i would see huge pods swimming around....and when i say huge...i mean like 1/4" lol....at first when i saw the crab i thought it was my emerald...then i remembered that it had died...guessing i can thank this xanthid for the dead emerald
