Their really is no reason to cut off the ears. It only leads to ear infections and a dog that appears more muscular. Its for idiots that want their dog to look more tough. Cropping the ears turns a cute looking dog into one that looks intimidating, and thats exactly what the owners intend for. Btw strengthening a dogs breed and show quality is a bad idea, look at APBT 60 years ago, they were around 40lbs, and now thanks to idiots breeding the biggest and toughest with each other they average double that size.
Hopefully the original poster can find a good home for the puppy.Sorry we took this thread off topic, I just get fired up when I read comments from ignorant people regarding the breed. Some pictures of the puppy would help find it a new home also.
like i said... if you've ever been to a dog show you will see that whatever gets cropped will get cropped...
if done properly they won't get infections... now they lazer cut and cauterized and that keeps them from having an open wound so for long... plus... if you're going to pay 280 to cut your dogs ears you're going to take alot of care of the dog...
dogs came from wolves... if there was no selective breeding back then we wouldn't have the dogs we have today... if you don't like that then you shouldn't like flowerhorn fish, picasso clowns or platinums clowns... all of those fish that are "designer" fish are selectively bred... that's why alot of those types of clowns will get punked for thier territories, won't host nems, or aren't scared of anything... that's not good in a marine fish... they lose all of thier instincts from where they came from...
oh and please don't call people ignorant... even if they are or not, nobody likes to hear that word... the definition is ill-informed and they might but, but still... people don't know how to handle that word yet...
and if you get pics i might be interested in the pup... i am in the market for a new dog... ijust put a dog to sleep last month...
i'm actually looking for a st bernard or a dogo argentino... i'm leaning towards the dogo... i kind of want to stay away from the pit bulls, but i'm a sucker for them...
here's what i really want...
