I just found out I have red bugs, my frags look have looked bad for some time, almost no color, come take what you want and if you can bring it back, a small frag sometime down the road would be greatly appreciated though not necessary to take home...Come take whatever you want, lot of ORA stuff, acros, milles, birdnests, and montis...I will prob throw the stuff out in the next couple days...

no need to throw it out. Just do the dog pill treatment and your problem is solved. Go to a vet with documentation on the benefits of interceptor pills as it relates to red bugs and should help you out with a prescription. Good luck.

I have decided to tear down my 60 gallon, there is an algae bloom, dead sea hare somewhere, and it looks terrible...I don't want to put the frags in my new build, I am obviously not great at keeping SPS but I am def going to try on my new build and I want a clean start.
I have given out a few frags, to be clear I would like to elaborate on the condition of the corals, they are not great, some no color but I'm sure if I give them all out, some will survive and I can get a frag down the road...
Also, if you have never kept SPS, prob not a great percentage experiment...
I have several ORA birdsnest frags (birds, green, orange) Bali Slimer, Marshall Island, red hot chili monti, rainbow monti, sunset monti, orange setosa, pink birdsnest, purple digitata, and several cool no-name acros and milles that HAD great color...some are decent sized mini colonies...
I don't think there are flatworms, I'm sure a good dip and an SPS ready tank will bring them back into great corals, let me know!

Red bugs are not a big deal, just treat and your golden. You will eventually get them again
down the road just treat them now.

Ok, I will get the interceptor and treat, I heard to smash the pill, put it in a high flow area, remove the collection cup to my skimmer, and 48 hours later do a 20% water change...is that right?
Also, I have green hair algae but 0 nitrates and I am feeding little, there is also a very thin green hair algae growing everywhere, hard to take off as well, any suggestions?

Throw some large turbo snails in and watch them mow the lawn! also if your not running a phosphate reactor:victory: with some GFO, that would be a great addition!

I think he meant to "disolve" the pill in hot water.

For the hair algae, get "AlgaeFix Marine," that stuff works! Turbo Snails do not eat hair algae. I have not found any marine creature to eat hair algae. That is why is resolved to try the chemical approach - an algaecide. I use it in my fish only and my reef. No problems with any of my corals, my clam, fish, grape calerpa, etc. I obtained it from liveaquaria.com, 16 oz for $12. Should last several months.

Mark, smash the pill up and dissolve that in water. You will need to turn your skimmer off and remove any carbon if you are using it. One of my friends that has a lot of experience with red bugs told me to only let it run for 12hrs and then do a 20% water change. I did that and treated twice two weeks apart and it took care of them. The pill could be cut up into quarter and 1/4 should be enough to treat your tank. If you have and ornamental inverts remove them if you don't want them to die. Good luck, it really is not that bad and out of all the pest we could get it might be one of the easiest to get rid of.

Thanks, I ordered it...also where can I get interceptor? I tried to read that RC thread but it's 2:17 and RC is running backups...I think I will do it to save pods but I would also like to know where to get interceptor as a back up...
