Hi everyone. I recently gave away a tank and sump and that person took it for free. Unfortunately, I was in offert up and I found that same person trying to sell the tank for a ridiculous price. I will be posting screenshots of this person so no one will give him anything free. Everyone I have met in this community has been very kind and generous. I dont think its fair to recive something for free and then go around trying to sell it for an excesive price.

Noted. I like giving freebies and sweet deals to this community (and hope to do more now that things are growing and I'm upgrading). Sad to see this and sad that we need a list of people to avoid. Thanks for the notice!

yikes, the unfortunate thing is that the reefer fam is mid to small knit group. Once stained, it'll be hard to climb back.

hopefully he can make it up to OP

I was gonna say the same thing.
I give stuff away, sometimes a lot. I do it to help people getting interested in the hobby get a start. During COVID, I was selling $10 frags no contact, I would always include a free named frag ($60-120 range). I did it to give happiness to people. I don’t think flipping it would bring happiness, I would expect that would bring guilt unless the person is so broken that god can’t fix them.

The dark side of Nano_Tank,,,beware of this guy,,,he is a predator buying corals and selling them at double or triple the price,,,he likes to insist on buying the coral at ridiculously low prices,,,a member friend of this forum had an experience with this guy,,,he uses many aliases,,,:Vitamin sea",,,"Seaworld2023",,"Nano_Tank",,,to mislead people,,recently he took 2 tanks in offerup (all in pics are included ,,,livestock,,lights,,skimmer,,tank and stand,,ALL ),,,and now He is selling them to get up to triple the price for what he paid,,Here are the evidences,,,

in regards to nano_tank… (I’m not taking sides, just sharing about my thoughts) I actually haven’t purchased anything recently from him because I like to purchase items that are established rather than flipped

I really have mixed feelings about this. I understand taking advantage of free items from these forum members and selling them is extremely wrong, but is it really wrong to buy something and sell it for market value? The original sale had an agreed price where both parties are fine with the transaction, then any future sales there are an agreed price between two parties as well.

For example, if let’s say you come across a wicked deal on a home, would you really sell it for what you got it for? Or sell it at market value where there is an agreed purchase price between buyer and seller.

it takes two to tango.

I would consider flipping (houses or corals) a business. More like coral arbitrage, actually. Doesn't sound like a community member fragging overgrown corals/growing out and selling them back to the community situation. If it's a profit-driven business, perhaps it should be a sponsor to the forum for permission to sell.

The flipside of that argument is that growing out your corals and selling them to the community at market prices could also be considered profit-driven/business-like activity. So who knows.

Flipping from the generosity of people giving items for free is on another level IMO. I'm not going to hate too much on someone finding value on a sale and flipping it (i.e. buying a system and breaking it down to sell items individually).
