I decided to go with mangrove/chaeto hybrid in my sump, so some of mangroves are for sale. There are 7 pieces and between 12 to 15" tall. They all have been in my sump for 9 months and are fully accustomed to the life in the sump.

$20, pick up in Diamond Bar.

Nice. I just started using both chaeto and mangroves too. Ill have to warn you chart makes a mess. Make sure to put a filter sponge between one of the baffles to catch all the loose pieces. There will be s lot of loose pieces.

Yeah, that was the reason why I quit using chaeto at the first place. I have a modified clear container with nice mesh which should contain them well.

Is it alot of work keeping mangroves healthy?
No, if you get a good quality ones they will do well. But you need quite a bit to make an impact though. I have a 50g cube and with 25 mangroves they are still not keeping up and nutrient export. so I decided to sell some to make space for chaeto. I also heard mangrove sucks up magnesium but never experienced it myself.

I've been running cheato and my nitrates are down to zero on my 40 gal all in one clear for life. I modified the back lol. And now my 80 gal build I'm just thinking what else to put in my refugium/sump.

Mangrove will be a good choice if you have the space but as I say you will need quite a bit to make an impact. Check with Wally as he literally built an outdoor mangrove filtration system. The SoCal weather works definitely better then artificial condition.
