Lol thnx J. Its definitely one of the nicest favias out there!!
I agree it's nice, but it's not rare. I don't think most places are even able to sell it for $25 a polyp. But I guess you have the tyree version?
Just because Steve put his name on it and called it a LE only means retailers like you and him feel that you have the right to charge insane prices for a specific coral. I could understand that kind of marketing if the item was unique or uncommon. As I stated earlier I have seen other colony come in recently. They look exactly like the frags you sold. That leads me to believe that your selling wild corals that look like the LE. I have no clue where you got yours from, but you never stated the original post so that's why I question it. I also don't think you have the right ID for the coral. It clearly looks nothing like the photos in Verons book. The coloration, polyp shape, and growth are all different. IMO
I'm okay that you want to talk down to me in your own for sale thread; after all I was the one asking questions. I was originally asking what made your frags unique(tyrees version). All that's been offered up are photos of wild colony's and wild freshly cut frags. Also a Veron photo of a Favia. I don't want to point fingers, but it sure seems to me your offering up a wild coral and calling it a tyree because it has the same coloration as the tyree.
Many people do this today, lots of stuff has gained common names this way. Mostly zoas, but lots of lps and sps as well.
I will crack my Veron books and talk to some importers and find out what the "Mayan sun" is being imported as and maybe that will lend an ID for the coral. Maybe your right after all. I have my doubts as it doesnt look to me like ID you posted.
