I been trying to figure that out as well, from what I've read the type of camera we need is an ip Camera because somehow apex uses the IP address on the camera that enables it to transmit the video feedback, it's a bit confusing I have to do more reading on this, hopefully someone else has it set up and can tell us the steps to connect a camera to the system

We don't have fusion but the hubby set up an ip camera(foscam is the brand) to our apex I'll have to get him to chime in if you guys want. :)
that i understand, if you have your apex setup with port-forwarding you just need to get an ip cam give it a port. then you access it through the web like you would your apex, instead of hitting the apex port, you choose the webcam port.

what i did was use one of my security camera from security camera system. thank you kenny for the hook up

Has anyone successfully set up a network webcam to set up for the fusion? Kind of want to get that going so I can monitor the tank from work - preferably for less than an arm and a leg.

Also, how secure is the apex website, do we know? I don't want any perverts watching me while I walk around in my chonies.

Ive got fusion but havent set it up yet. I dont see the advantge. Theres about 7 ways to access an internet device & i prefer port forwarding. Imo the convenience isnt worth putting all your remote access powers into apex's basket. a pan-tilt-zoom cam with a front view of the tank and sump is very helpful, so is a microphone. 1080p HD > 720 HD >>> 640 x 480, but HD is slow on mobile devices. Also, fish can see nightvision IR & wakeup to start swimming when i remotely spy my tanks at night.

& yes, IF its hardwired then ultimately its INSECURE. Like defense experts say if its connected you can hack it. Im sure apex, webcams, even home security cams have internet backdoors. Therefore, i disconnect my cams unless im on vacay.

Sweet. Let me know how it works. I'll def pick one up. I wanna be able to check on the tank and the sump, so I'll probably buy two.

What made u choose that one? Anyone else recommend it?
I followed a thread on reef central, but the camera that the person chose was an older lower resolution one ($60 I think). Yet, it still had good reviews. I then stumbled upon this newer model with decent reviews as well. It seems that quite a few people are using the foscams, so I'll give it a shot.

I'll keep you posted, for sure.
