My Tank Build
#1
Hi all,

I'm checking if anyone is interested in my Maxspect xf330 pair. Bought used and been using it since the summer. I clean it periodically with citric acid baths.

Here's the deal. One of the two works awesome. I run it on my IM 40 Long, and it pushes water quite well. So far no dead spots in the tank. However, I'd like to try something else to get flow on the other side of my tank where the nems are.

I am not using the other pump. After I initially washed the two pumps and put them back together, the first worked like a charm. The second made a loud clacking sound and stopped. I took it apart and tried putting it back together again, but again with the clacking sound. I am not a handy man or a DIYer. Look at my other post from today and see what I did with a 35 degree reflector and a Noopsyche Mini. So I just put the pump down and have been using only one. I suspect I was unable to get the impellers to line up with the bushings if my terminology is correct. Or maybe it is broken. NOTE: It was running perfectly fine while I had it running in a 30 minute citric acid bath before trying to clean it and put it in my DT, so it didn't arrive broke.

Anyway, I imagine someone more technologically literate could make the pump work. Here it is.

It has a defect in one of the cage plastic bars, but it came like that and isn't the source of the clacking--I think the clacking is on side B.

Controller, not the wifi version (as far as I can tell):

Don't laugh at my controller board/wire basket please.

I'd like to get $160 for the pair. Not planning on dismounting the pumps and cleaning them unless someone is interested. Thanks!

Are you thinking on replacing them with another laminar flow pump? Because they are all basically the same because maxspect owns the patent or something like that. I think they even build the RedSea and AI ones. You might need some new bearings or you just put it together wrong. You can pick up a new pump cheap here and just give me your old one... lol

Yeah, I was thinking of switching to a Jebao SCP-70 on the right side and Jebao SCP-50 on the left since the latter is a half-sized gyre. Don't want a full size gyre next to the Nem island, because it is too much for them and the flow gets blocked anyway. The half size would allow for some random flow if positioned toward the front of the tank away from the island.

The old Maxspect xf130s had an end cap that let you only use one side of the gyre, but I donysee that for the xr330s.

I'll think about the single gyre by itself though. Might be worth it.
