My buddy has a 240 FOWLR. He’s had this beautiful fish for sometime. But recently it’s been beat up by the other fish. He was able to catch it and asked if I wanted him. Obviously I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to own this beautiful fish. He had quite a bit of fin damage, wounds in his face and mouth, and on his body:

I set up QT and started MB treatment, and selcon soaked food. Water change every 48 hr, and new dose of MB. I’m in day 8, last treatment and he has improved quite a bit in a short time:

I was feeling good to see him on the mend and wanted to share- I know he still has a little ways to go, but after only 8 days - I’m blown away on how fast he has healed.

Awesome of you to nurse the tang back to health. And good on your friend for recognizing/reaching out for help.

Thanks everyone. Now just need to figure out how to acclimate him with other tangs as to avoid aggression in my main display.

concidering putting photos of other tangs on the glass, mirrors, and start out in a large acclimation box.

I would hate for him to get beat up again in my tank. but I have a few tangs in there already and catching him once In There is not really an option. Gives me anxiety just thinking of it lol

I’m going to try something to hopefully reduce aggression: I printed a bunch of color photos of other tangs, taped them to the glass as well as a few mirrors.

ill move the gem into a large acclimation box as well for a few days and see how it goes.

Mirrors really work for me. My powder brown tang was fighting himself non stop haha. The movement from the mirror is much better than pics imo. I would put on the side so u can still enjoy ur tank haha

So far the powder brown and sail fin keep busy on the mirrors. The yellow and purple tang stretch their fins out when they swim by but don’t seem too concerned. The kole and the hippo and everyone else don’t seem to care one bit about mirrors and none seem to even notice the photos 😅

it’s only been a few hours but I guess time will tell lol.

I’m glad to hear that you were able to save him. Thanks for sharing your success story.
I have stress and anxiety too when adding another tang into my tank. I can’t sleep thinking what will happen to him in the morning.

I did one day in acclimation box. Placed nori inside and outside acclimation box but right next to each other and everyone would eat side by side. no other fish even seemed to care about the gem in the acclimation box. Today I let gem into display- and (fingers crossed) so far so good! I took a video if you want to see.

I took all photos down. No one seemed to care lol. But the mirrors worked great and I moved them to the sides of the tank for now. But if everything stays like it is right now and looks ok in the next couple of days I’ll take mirrors down
